Lively Discussions and Exciting CTFs: The usd Hackertage and usd Hacking Night

19. November 2025

On November 7, 2025, our offices in Neu-Isenburg, Cologne, and Munich opened their doors to anyone who not only wants to understand IT security and ethical hacking, but also wants to experience it firsthand. The usd Hackertage and usd Hacking Night offered the perfect mix of exchange, learning, and competition.

Hacking together, learning together

The usd Hackertage kicked off at 1:00 p.m. Participants were given access to a virtual training environment with realistic vulnerabilities. There, they could test and develop their hacking skills - regardless of whether they had previous experience or not. Our experts from the usd HeroLab were there to provide advice and support.

The exchange was lively, and many took the opportunity to find out about starting a career in cyber security. Over pizza, mate, and Tschunk, participants of both events shared their experiences of the Hackertage and got in the mood for the upcoming Hacking Night.

CTF until late at night

At 6:30 p.m., the event continued with the usd Hacking Night. Participants competed against each other in small teams in a capture-the-flag competition. The goal was to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in server environments specially prepared by the usd PentestLab. Creativity, perseverance, and teamwork were essential in the battle for first place.

The teams remained active until the early hours of the morning, engaging in a close, neck-and-neck race with a great deal of excitement. The best teams were honored at the end. Once again, congratulations to everyone who persevered!

But that's not all! To help bridge the gap until our next hacking event, we are launching an XSS challenge on our LinkedIn channel. Here you can continue to put your skills to the test.
