usd Cyber Security Seminar at Elite Network Bavaria

22. November 2018

Munich November 9th 2018. The Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) is a joint institution of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and the Technische Universität München (TUM). As part of the Elite Network Bavaria, CDTM offers an interdisciplinary add-on study program called “Technology Management”. This semester, usd AG participates in the program for the first time by hosting a cyber security seminar.

This semester’s kick-off took place on November 9th at Technische Universität München. Janette Pitzschel, Management Security Consultant at usd, and Christoph Cierpka, Senior Pentest Professional at usd HeroLab, introduced the students to the basics of cyber security and presented a pentester’s and security specialist’s everyday working life. Live Hacking demonstrations gave vivid insights in how criminals work. After the introduction, Christoph Cierpka was already looking forward to the afternoon: “I am happy to see how inquisitive the students are and how actively they are participating. They will now slip into the role of a hacker for the practical part of our seminar and get some hands-on training. It’s an effective way of sharing IT security know-how.”

Janette Pitzschel was happy with the seminar as well: “We were excited to be included in the CDTM’s current study program. This way we get the opportunity to bring in practical knowledge and to introduce young people to cyber security topics. After Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Mainz, we are now also active at universities in Munich. Since we opened a location in Munich this year, I am especially happy about that.”
